Fernanda Cunha AND Reg Schwager
Brought up in a rich musical environment in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, singer Fernanda Cunha began her career in 1997 and has since toured Brazil, Europe and North America, performing at prestigious international jazz festivals.
Regular appearances at jazz festivals in Canada have helped to carve out a whole new fan base for Cunha’s post-bossa groove, and she moved to Canada in 2019. She has 8 Solo CDs released worldwide and available in all digital stores.
Reg Schwager is a Toronto jazz guitarist . Born in the Netherlands, Schwager is known as one of Canada’s leading jazz guitarists. Reg has toured extensively across Canada and worldwide with George Shearing, Diana Krall, Peter Appleyard, Rob McConnell and many others.
The duo has been playing together since 2011 in Canada and Brazil. In 2015, Reg collaborated with Cunha in writing two songs for her sixth CD “Olhos de Mar”, one song in her 7th album “Jobim 90” and one song in her latest album.
They are working on a new CD, and for the first time an album with all songs written by Reg Schwager and lyrics by Fernanda. Fernanda and Reg wrote the songs during the pandemic, and invited special guests to participate: Pat Collins on bass, Tom Szczesniak on piano and accordion, Michel Lambert on drums, jazz tenor saxophonist Masahi Usui , and the JUNO Award winning saxophonist Allison Au.
